SPEAKERS BUREAU
If you have a pertinent topic that you feel would be appropriate for the Chamber or other civic or professional groups, send the Chamber a letter detailing your topic, experience and general content.  Send for a list of the clubs and organizations from the Chamber and mail a letter to these groups telling about your topic.  Service groups usually have a speaker every week and they need you.  Network at these events also.

REFERRALS
Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce office receives hundreds of calls each week from businesses, visitors, and residents requesting business referrals.  It is our policy that we refer member businesses only.  The Chamber of Commerce keeps a database of all members by category which is used when new businesses, visitors or residents call needing a certain product or service.  If you have a special service, let the Chamber know.  We need to list all your specialties, i.e., a nursery may also provide yard work, landscaping, and soil analysis and plant pest control.  When you need a new widget, call the Chamber for a referral.  It’s good business to trade with Chamber members.  This helps YOU and at the same time makes your services and products known to them.

NEW RESIDENTS
The Chamber receives letters and phone calls daily asking about moving into this area.  These are excellent leads to contact prior to their settling in the area.  Just ask for more information.

SPECIAL EVENT PLANNING (Ambassadors)
Planning a grand opening, ribbon cutting or open house can be a real task, unless you use the Chamber of Commerce.  Let us assist you in planning your next special event.  It’s only “Seven Easy Steps”.  We also have “big scissors and ground breaking shovels”.  A 30 to 60 day lead-time is best for appropriate marketing.  NO FEE TO MEMBERS.

CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN
A manufacturer shipping goods to another country is required to acquire a Certificate of Origin verifying authenticity of origin.  NO FEE TO MEMBERS, $150.00 FEE TO NON-MEMBERS.

SCORE
(SERVICE CORPS OF RETIRED EXECUTIVES)
Administered by the SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SERVICE, SCORE is a group of retired executives who volunteer their time to counsel new and existing businesses.  An appointment, only on Mondays, can be scheduled through the Chamber office.  NO FEE.

MEDICAL INSURANCE
Kaiser Permanente Health Plan

CREDIT UNION
Chamber members are eligible for membership in various credit unions in the area.

RED CARPET TEAM
Chamber staff and selected Chamber members provide an official ceremonial greeting team for visiting businesses and dignitaries.

USING THE CHAMBER NEWSLETTER
The Chamber publishes a newsletter every other month called NEWS & VIEWS.  This publication is designed to keep you abreast of chamber activities and concerns.

ARTICLES:
You can participate by preparing business or professional articles utilizing your expertise or that of your industry or profession, which will be helpful to fellow chamber members.  The articles will be printed under the name of the contributor.

BUSINESS BRIEFS:
Has someone in your company recently been promoted?  Is there a special event coming up in your business?  Has your firm reached a significant milestone?  Briefly tell who, what, when, where and why…and give the name and phone number of someone we can contact for more information, if necessary.

NEW MEMBER LIST:
A listing of new chamber members is in each issue of the newsletter.  This sheet can be slipped into your membership directory to keep it updated throughout the year.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
The calendar appears in the newsletter for transfer to your appointment books or for easy display.

ADVERTISING PAYS
Whether you are starting a new business or have been in business for years, you know that “nothing beats the written word.”  One of the best ways to inform potential clients and customers about your business is through advertising.  Advertising comes in a variety of forms: print (newspapers, magazines, mail), electronic (web sites and e-mail), radio and television, etc.  Advertising can be costly to your budget.  So, why not STRETCH your budget and reach 900 of your peers by advertising in the Chamber’s very affordable bi-monthly newsletter, “News & Views”.
